BMW have teamed up with the Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation to explore urban life. They are creating three labs in major cities around the world which will each be assigned a theme, a graphic designer and an architect. The teams will then work together to explore the issues of living in the city, working with the public to create an engaging and experimental exhibition.
The first lab will be in North America, entitled “Confronting Comfort: The City And You”. The graphic designers assigned to the project are Sulki & Min, and the architecture firm Atelier Bow-Wow will lead construction. The installation will be finding out ways urban environments can be more responsive to the needs of the public.
The project will run for 6 years, with each installation running for a 2 year cycle. After the North American one, a European one will take over, finishing off with an Asian one.
You can read more about the project on the Guggenheim website.
