I Heart LFW. It’s here. London Fashion Week; has arrived.

With celebrities being spotted in and around the capital and flash bulbs popping in abundance, even a Londonite can’t fail to be excited by the buzz and pace of London Fashion Week. But with so much fashion concentrated into just a few days it can be hard to keep track, so here’s a brief round up of the best weekend shows.

Saturday

House Of Holland

Henry does it again, showing a collection which mixes classic British clichés with his signature style. Sharply tailored Harris Tweed jackets with patent orange collars twinned with silk jumpsuits and skirts in prints befitting your nanna’s curtains tells you this collection is serious about fun. And the piece de season will definitely be the outrageously trashy pearl hoop earrings. (Love.Want.Need.) The slogan tees remain but it feels like HoH has grown up.

Sunday

Topshop Unique

Topshop have done well to cover a plethora of A/W11 trends and delivered on some. The collection as a whole with it’s clashing textures, colours and patterns mixes the romantically feminine with the playful. This grungy glamour and striking 30’s silhouetted dresses will appeal to wannabe WAGS, teens and hardcore fashionistas alike. This collection is innovative, wearable and British; a real box ticker.

Temperley

Temperley returned to LFW after a 6 year sabbatical at NYFW with a show ready to hush the critics and non believers. Temperly produced a collection which was breath taking befitting the regal setting at the British museum. Ballgowns, flapper style dresses and high waists mean evening wear and sophisticated glamour reigned. Rule Britannia.

Mulberry

Mulberry created a magical woodland setting to showcase their perfect A/W11 collection. Inspired by Roald Dahl’s Fantastic Mr Fox the setting was ethereal and the collection had a whimsical flavour. The signature handbags remained with their key details and fastenings pulled through onto beautiful padded jackets and trench coats teamed with evening dresses in autumnal hues. Comfortingly brilliant.

In short, a smorgasbord of aspirational collections from truly heart racing British fashion. But so far Henry’s has stolen my heart; every garment is unique, wearable and truly desirable (did I mention I’m yearning for THE earrings). If you judge LFW’s calibre from these shows alone, with so much still to come I’m not sure I can contain my excitement. Ones to watch: (Monday) Burberry , (Tuesday) Antoni & Alison, Marios Schwab, Anya Hindmarch and (Wednesday) Cassetts Playa..phew! Someone pass me a valium, this is more than I can take!
