New Era announced earlier that their partnership with 90 design schools from around the world in a bid to find the new design for their trademark fitted cap has come to fruition, in the form of the not-so-utilitarian cap made by Craig Green. The winner has astonishingly won the bursary given by New Era, namely £10,000 to aid the development of the designers career.

The plain cap ( and felt tips…) are what the designers were sent to begin with, quite humorous when  you consider what the outcome of the majority looked like – a far cry from anything i bet they were expecting. The winning piece is a combination of what seems to be pencils, marshmallows and spare gift-wrapping, although i’m obviously not as distinguished as those whom judged the pieces of course.

In addition, New Era will be touring various major cities around Europe to exhibit the individual hats:

There are 5 exhibitions across Europe:
4-7 November  - London
11-13 November  - Berlin
18-20 November  - Milan
25-27 November  - Barcelona
2-4 December  - Paris

My opinion on it? Well, i’d say it’s experimental for sure, that’s about as far as i’m willing to delve into this creation i’m afraid, interesting to see what you guys think, let us know!
