Last night I attended the launch of the Sole Creator popup shop at a store in the Mailbox, in Birmingham. The premise of the brand is to customize your favourite classics, i.e Vans/Converse with something that makes them unique, check out the site for some more information.
I received the invite by my good friends over at Treacle and managed to take some photos which are just about good enough to place on the blog, though I’d hardly consider myself anything other than a novice in the field.
The venue its self couldn’t hold any more prestige, being renowned for the most upmarket shopping center Birmingham has to offer, and the grandeur of such a building allowed me to already hold connotations of what to expect… These expectations were not dashed, and the event – though rather small – definitely was a success.
Treacles own Philth was there as an artist, as well as Agent and n4t4 to spruce up the walls with a bit of colour – though I wasn’t particularly keen on the JLS mural, though, I was reassured countless times it was simply to contrast with the image of legendary Motorhead member Lemmy.
A couple of musicians performed too, not worth mentioning, though there was a dope break dance crew who spent more time on their heads than on their feet – not that I can blame them with the free alcohol that was flowing in a torrential manner, the food wasn’t too great either, as I’m sure Bob from Treacle can reassure you – quick sum. Egg + Onion + Pastry = Bad.
