For my birthday we headed over to The Shoreditch last Thursday to celebrate. After speaking to a number of cool and quirky bars we eventually settled on The Shoreditch due to their accommodating approach to dealing with large parties and helpful attitude throughout.

The bar is in the heart of one of the coolest areas in London, right on Shoreditch High Street. Spanning over 2 floors they have a great chilled out vibe upstairs with more of a club atmosphere downstairs.

We picked up a variety of elaborate cocktails, including a barrel and a giant fish bowl. Both were great value for money, and added a nice bit of theatre to the evening.

The decor was quirky, with a 20s theme present throughout the upstairs section of the bar, mixed in with elements of a tiki bar in certain areas. Stained glass windows and art deco will take you back to the golden 20s whilst the hula girls and cocktails will whisk you away to Hawaii.

Drinks weren’t too expensive, and they offered a wide selection which resulted in exploration later in the night. Dangerous as ever, it wasn’t too long until we cracked out the absinthe and the night took a strange turn. For a large portion of the night we enjoyed happy hour where you could grab 4 beers for £10, or 2 cocktails for £10.

Overall the night was very enjoyable, and pretty affordable given the area. The staff were friendly and helpful. and a great night was had by all. Let us know your experiences of The Shoreditch or other bars in the area in the comments!
