MOST WANTED

Every week the CTR staff writers pick their number one lust-haves to share with you. This week we've gone geeky with a brand new piece of technology, cultured with tickets to an opera and thrown in some zombies for good measure.

  • Microsoft Surface

I’ve never quite liked the look of the new Windows mobile and tablet interface but the new Surface tablet may be the gadget to sway me. My main reason for including the tablet in my most wanted weekly is Microsoft’s inclusion of a pen interface. This may seem like a gimmick but not a lot of tablets out there have the ability to become a graphics tablet (and certainly no high end devices out there have the ability) and this is definitely an advantage when you want to be arty out and about. As you might expect from a Microsoft device you will be able to customise it with all your windows programs (not just apps) as the device runs off windows 8 which (as you may know) has had a tap friendly overhaul. There’s no release date announced for the UK yet but we shouldn’t have to wait too long.

  • Opera Di Peroni

This Friday I will be heading over to a new Peroni sponsored event, Opera Di Peroni. I never thought I’d reach a point in my life where I chose to go to the opera, but this new production seems incredibly interesting and caught my attention. Composed by Kwes, who is best known for working with the likes of The Xx, Jack Penate, Damon Albarn and Ghostpoet, Opera Di Peroni is an opera event for people who haven’t been exposed to opera. Aiming to open the medium to a new audience, this immersive experience will be a great night out for anyone looking to broaden their horizons. Full review to follow.

  • Benson Cardigan

Loving this grey waterfall cardigan for 2 reasons: It would be super cosy with jeans and a vest, or a great way to dress down a tank and pencil skirt for the office. The inside white contrasts with the grey, creating a sort of soft blazer lapel. For it's bargain price is comes from an unlikely source; The Olsen Twins collection for StyleMint which is now available through Stylist Pick. Check out the rest of the collection for some summer comfies!

About Alex Bucktin

I'm a graphic designer for a London ad agency but being creative isn't just a 9-5 thing for me. Its part of everyday life. I have an unhealthy obsession with typography, I ski like I have a death wish and my ideal afternoon would be spent walking the dogs and baking french macaroons. I collect china tea cups and shoes, and have no idea what I want to be when I finally grow up.
