Most Wanted Weekly – 08/05/2012

Given the nature of our roles at CTR, all of our writers are magpies. We love finding and playing with new things, and we actively hunt the world (both real and virtual) to find the best of the best. It seems a shame to keep all of that knowledge to ourselves, so we’ve decided to launch Most Wanted Weekly. Every week we’ll do a round-up of all of the best items from around the globe that really spark our interest, and give you the low down on what to look out for.

MOST WANTED

Given the nature of our roles at CTR, all of our writers are magpies. We love finding and playing with new things, and we actively hunt the world (both real and virtual) to find the best of the best. It seems a shame to keep all of that knowledge to ourselves, so we've decided to launch Most Wanted Weekly. • Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II

Often described as the 'nifty fifty' due to its exceptional ability considering its low price point of £80, this lens is a must for any amateur photographer. When shooting at f/1.8, it offers a very shallow depth of field, which is beneficial for isolating subjects against a blurred background. Bargain.

  • The Booking Office, St. Pancras Hotel

Situated inside the newly refurbished St. Pancras Hotel, but accessible from the station concourse, The Booking Office is a striking setting for a business breakfast, snack or classic English dining. The 29m-long bar boasts an array of punches and mixed drinks as well as a range of bespoke and seasonal cocktails (I would recommend the very refreshing Gin Fix). Perfect for a quite mid-morning coffee or a relaxed cocktail on a friday evening. With its cathedral-like drama The Booking Office feels grand and relaxed all at the same time. Open until till 3am daily and also features live music Thursday, Friday & Saturday evenings.

  • Nike Fuel Band

As an apathetic student, nearly anything which makes the drudgeries of exercise either easier or more enjoyable is incredible lucrative. The band itself is sleek and looks like a extra from the Mags that were dropped late last year. Though it is no cheap investment (retailing at £150), it will be worth every penny when it gets you off the couch when you can't be bothered. You can get yours now from Niketown in London, and we will have an in-depth review coming up soon (as well as some other exciting related features!).

  • Coccinelle Brown Zip Detail Handbag

This bag is what I need this summer! This camel brown bag from Coccinelle features two top handles, 4 gold-tone buckles and a detachable long handle. Perfectly sized for day and evening wear, I love the strong zip and pocket details on this bag. The Camel brown is definitely a winner for me, but the bag also comes in black.

  • Bell and Ross BR 01 Horizon

Bell & Ross is notorious for taking its inspiration from cockpit instruments and this iconic silhouette BR01 Horizon is no different, replicating the Attitude indicator from an aircraft. Features include a two-tone dial, lone pointer and uniform marks. All that’s left to purchase is the plane…

About Alex Bucktin

I'm a graphic designer for a London ad agency but being creative isn't just a 9-5 thing for me. Its part of everyday life. I have an unhealthy obsession with typography, I ski like I have a death wish and my ideal afternoon would be spent walking the dogs and baking french macaroons. I collect china tea cups and shoes, and have no idea what I want to be when I finally grow up.
