The upcoming film from the Wachowskis, Cloud Atlas, has finally released it’s extended trailer. Based on the 2004 book of the same name, the plot has a somewhat abstract plot which seems to be hard to define. It has officially been stated as:
An epic story of humankind in which the actions and consequences of our lives impact one another throughout the past, present and future as one soul is shaped from a murderer into a savior and a single act of kindness ripples out for centuries to inspire a revolution.
The cast is simply phenomenal, with Tom Hanks, Hugh Grant, Halle Berry, Jim Broadbent, Hugo Weaving, Jim Sturgess, and more taking up roles.
The trailer is quite ethereal, covering a wide expanse of settings from pirate ships to futuristic cities, and it seems like an incredibly amibitious film. It is all beautifully shot, but it seems like a huge challenge to translate something like this across different mediums.
What do you think of the trailer? Will the book translate to the big screen or have the Wachowski’s made a poor decision? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
