The hotly anticipated new Quentin Tarantino film, Django Unchained, has finally released it’s first trailer.
With an all star cast of Leonardo DiCaprio, Jamie Foxx, Samuel L. Jackson, Christopher Waltz and more, the film follows an escaped slave called Django (Foxx) who becomes a bounty hunter. Having been groomed by slave driver Dr. King Schultz (Waltz) to become his deputy bounty hunter, Django is led to the site of Calvin Candle (DiCaprio), a plantation owner who has kidnapped his wife.
As expected from Tarantino, the trailer is filled with violence, has a cool soundtrack and some cracking one liners. It’s exactly what you’d expect from the acclaimed director.
When Tarantino directed Inglorious Basterds he claimed he was going to reinvent war films as a genre. He has made similar claims this time around with the spaghetti western, which is a genre left pretty unscathed in recent years. It will be interesting to see whether this helps revive the once loved film genre, and whether the high profile cast can open it up to a new audience.
What do you think of the trailer? Will Tarantino manage to revive the spaghetti Western, or is this likely to disappoint? Let us know in the comments!
