A new viral has leaked from the hotly anticipated new Ridley Scott film, Prometheus. Starring Michael Fassbender as David, an advanced android designed to be indistinguishable from humans, Prometheus is the spiritual successor to the Alien franchise, and is set in the same universe. However, it is a prequel and includes none of the same characters or story lines, and revolves around a completely new premise.

In the distant future, two superpowers control Earth and fight each other for all the solar system’s natural resources. When one side dispatches a team to a distant planet to terraform it for human colonization, the team discovers an indigenous race of bio-mechanoid killers. Ridley Scott, director of ‘Alien’ and ‘Blade Runner,’ returns to the genre he helped define. With PROMETHEUS, he creates a groundbreaking mythology, in which a team of explorers discover a clue to the origins of mankind on Earth, leading them on a thrilling journey to the darkest corners of the universe. There, they must fight a terrifying battle to save the future of the human race.
The trailer has really upped the level of intrigue for me, and got me excited for a film that up until now has underwhelmed as it attempted to stand up to the titans of 2012 – The Dark Knight Rises and The Hobbit. Michael Fassbender’s enigmatic android has created a mystique around the film that has left me wanting to find out more, and pushed this right up there on my films to watch in 2012.
