So this is my first band spotlight for Control The Riot, which I’m hoping to run as a regular feature. Feel free to leave any feedback or tips for my next one, as this is your chance to get your band noticed!
Today I’m going to feature the rising New Zealand stars, The Naked And Famous. They stormed to popularity in the Australasian market last May with their debut song “Young Blood”, reaching the number one spot in the New Zealand Singles Chart. Since then they have been on a rollercoaster to popularity, winning the APRA 2010 Silver Scroll for Song of the Year and “Young Blood” being used in various TV commercials.
They followed up their debut song with an album entitled “Passive Me, Aggressive You” which should be released in the UK within the next couple of months.
As for how they sound? You could pigeon hole them alongside the likes of MGMT for their dreamy-synths and soft vocals, with uplifting bursts of Passion Pit like energy that really course through their records.
So let us know what you think! Will they be the next big thing, or are they just another rung on the bland indie ladder?
